Bobby manages to carry Dirken safely on his back, and about a minute after,
they manage to climb on a the small balcony under the broken window where Gawaine
and Gorileth broke through earlier...

Behind it, stars, and two empty rooms, with blood stains on the walls...

A decapitated warrior lies next to the stairs, cled in the wooden armor of the dark elves...

The head is missing, however...

Just as he takes a last look downwards, to see what his other friends are doing,
Dirken sees Ungulian crash out of the door and land on the stone stairs to the palace...

The baron would be in the distance of either your grenades or your crossbow,
but with that, you would maybe damage Mant's corpse as well...

In a low deep voice... Bobby, get behind me as he unstaps one of his magical green balls.

Dirken with grim determination and hatred on his face will pull the pin and launch his ball at the dreaded Baron. He will attempt to aim not directly at the Baron as his friends could be chasing him but more to right or left of him hopeing the blast will knock him uncounscience.

Mant is gone, I know he would want us all to survive rather than worry about him now.

Seeing Black Wing in his condition brings a tear to his eye.
It streaks down his cheek clearing away some of the grime that has accumulated over the past few days.
As he once again looks upon the Maiden he recalls their last meeting when he tricked her
into believing he was willing to worship her as a goddess and then burned her bones.
Now the damn well has brought her back.
And then a spell comes to his mind unbidden, one that he has never cast before.
It is one he has been working on, but was still far beyond his power.
But seeing Black Wing standing there brings to mind all of the friends,
especially Draussa and Jigimy, he has lost on this journey
and all the great heroes who have fallen and he feels a sudden rush of pain, anguish, anger and .... power.
He reaches into his spell component pouch and polls forth a piece of phosphorus as he
prays for strength from Aeros.
He then begins to cast and the strain is clear on his face as he tries to pull energy
much greater than he has ever attempted before.
He crumbles a piece of phosphorus between his fingers and throw the dust up towards
the stairs, as if by magic, for that it is what it is,
the dust drifts upwards and falls in a line directly where Black Wing is standing.
When the settling dust hits the floor violet flames shoot skyward like a wall of flames.
Erdath directs the waves of heat to pour forth towards the Maiden.
(Erdath cast Wall of Flame. 4d6+4X1.5 fire damage to Black Wing and
4d4 X 1.5 to the Maiden if she is withing 10 feet of the wall
and 2d4X 1.5 is she is within 20 feet.)

He screams at the Maiden "Yo, She bitch, lets go!"

When he comes to himself again, he sees Gawaine and Audi standing over him,
fighting shoulder to shoulder to keep the living statues away...

And then, the pain in his knee is suddenly gone, as Maroon's spell runs through him...

Harwan will be able to act normally again from now on.

The only thing, apart from ditry rags, and broken pottery,
that Harwan can see around him are the piles of corpses, stinking already
despite the coolness of the air...

And as he struggles to find a place that would shelter him at least against the most
immediate effects of the fire, Black Wing opens his mouth to unleash its infernal flames...

Harwan can already tastel the sulfurous and realizes it's too late...

- But then, the dragon coughs.

Despite Black Wing visibly opening the small bags of skin uner his cheeks,
and trying to press the liquids out of it that compose the dragonfire,
nothing happens.

Old blood drips from one of the glands under the scale skin...

Could it be that the dragon cannot breath fire in his undead state!?

The way open now, Hrrd can ascend right to the surface,
the only spot of real, sun-caused light he can see...

and into a world of loudness...

Before him, Black Wing.
Behind him, on a small throne of white wood,
an Afridhi woman with scars on her arms and face, pinned to her chair by a long,
grotesquely looking shard of window glass...

Over him, hissing like a furious snake, the Maiden.

Within his sight, Harwan, cowering on the ground,
and Erdath, a few feet behind the soldier...

And within his mind, Bravous roaring:

Hahahaha... A dragon is just a big lizard, Sir!

The entire forecourt of the palace vanishes in a cloud of smoke and stone dust,

Dirken and those who are fighting in the forehall can hear Ungulian cry in agony...

But not for long...

But as the smoke clears, Dirken is horrified to see Ungulian still standing where he fell earlier,
the flesh burned from the baron's body, the armor and the ribs on the chest broken open.

Dirken can see right into the space of the chest where normally, a human heart should be.

But there isn't.

From the distance, Dirken believes what he sees there must be a huge gem,
or a crystal.
Blue like a lapizlazuli.

Ungulian's skeletal head then abruptly moves up,
and the empty eyeholes spot Dirken and Bobby.

Right from where he is, the grotesque undead jumps meters high into the air,
his long sword raised over his head, and tries to plunge on the valiant thief and the little bearman!

Inside, Erdath turns to face the Maiden.

The elf will probably never be able to tell what drives him,
if it's the rightful anger to this perverted spirit, the pain over the loss of his friends,
the magic of Aeros, or the radiation of the Well of Souls...

But then, the fire burst from his hands, runs over Black Flame's blade,
and from there springs into the room...

For a moment, the entire throne room is lit from fire seemingly as bright as the sun itself...

When Erdath's sight comes back, he finds himself lying on the ground behind Harwan,
the curtains around him still smoking from his spell,
and his ears ringing like if he had stood next to a belll when it was struck...

Neither Harwan nor Hrrd could keep looking at the scene as the fire exploded over them,
but as they raise their eyes now, they can see that much of Dark Wing's flesh
has been burned from the dragon's body,
and that the Maiden has, for once, stopped her endless crazy babbling...

Instead, the nefarious ghost seems shaken through the magic, and ectoplasm is dripping from
her bodiless form and merging with the green waters of the Well right under her...

This is how the strange ring around the hole in the ground looks like:

As Sven recovers he sees that the golems are tied up and then Ungulian turning on
Dirken and Bobby. Sven rises as quickly as he can, making sure that he has his sword
and shield on, he charges Ungulian, heedless of any personal danger to himself. He
shouts "You haven't beaten me yet, Ungulian!"

Erdath tries to stand once again, but his body is weak from the power that just left him.
He manages to prop himself up again the wall.
He knows that if he expends much more energy he will be consumed by exhaustion and may even die from the effort, but what choice does he have?
Death or the unleashing of the Well of Souls upon Blackmoor.
He chooses death if those are his only options. He reaches into his scroll case and pulls out a sheet of parchment and unrolls it. He calls out in his mind to Black Flame,
"If you can aid me in any way, I need it. Can you protect me from those flames?"
He begins to read the spell upon the sheet and as he does they lift off the page and dance before his eyes.
As he finishes, a bead of fire appears in his hand and a strong breeze, maybe the breath of Aeros himself, pushes it towards the Maiden.
When it gets close, a great explosion rocks the tower and a ball of fire spreads over the Maiden and Black Wing. (Scroll of Fireball 5d6 fire damage).
He then takes his ring off and quickly hands it to Harwan.
"Put this on and say Rabbit and you will move much faster than you normally can.
I have no more spells like the ones I just cast and I don't know if I have much more energy to cast anything else regardless.
The rest of what I have will be directed at specific targets."

(OOC: Sorry if Hrrd gets burned. Erdath does not know you are in the well.)

With out taking his eyes off the Baron Dirken quickly draws his magic dagger in one hand and another magic green ball in the other, pulling the pin out with his teeth. Spitting it out, he reacts to the Barons attack as best as possible trying to nimbly avoid the attack and to get himself into position.

Stop Sven Bear Cub! NOW!

[OOC: As the result of a PM I had to alter this post]

Sven hears Dirken and stops, but then realizing that Ungulian is already on Dirken, he quickly resumes his charge.

*Harwan gives Erdath a quick nod as a sign of appreciation as he accepts the ring. "Rabbit", he says as he puts the ring on his finger. He then clicks his teeth as he quickly makes a hard decision. "Blackmoor must survive. Without it, my life has no value". He lifts his sword and charges his enemies.*

Assuming both enemies survived Erdath's spell, Harwan will focus on the dragon.

*He shouts to Erdath "The Well must be destroyed!"*

Karl moves to stand next to Sven, unsure of his next move. He has no idea of how to destroy the well
and his spells are spent. He only has his soon to non magical staff to help. "So what next, Sven?"

Hrrd will rush over and extricate the shards of glass from the woman on the throne and cast CMW on her if she is still alive. This scene is filled to overflowing with things he doesn't understand, but if there is one thing he knows, it is that old women have power. The woman on the white wood throne is old and covered with scars, probably ritualistic. If she has some power in this place, it is best to revive her.

Sven may not hear Karl as he charges Ungulian to protect Dirken and Prince Robert (Bobby).

Karl doesn't even hesitate and follows Sven, Staff in hands. He moves to flank Ungulian with Sven, if possible.
With his speed, Karl may arrive there first. His first move is to do a flurry of blows on Ungulian, but leaves
a place for Sven to attack as well.

Hrrd sees the flames burn their way through the room from Erdath's fingers,
and may decide that being right under the elven wizard's target would not be so wise...

Clumsily, but remarkably fast, Hrrd pulls himself out of what he believes must in fact be the Well of Souls,
his fur clammy and tacky from the ectoplasma.

Over him, he can see the girl ghost hissing and roaring, but the spirit is apparently
to busy with Erdath to notice him...

The woman on the throne, is small golden ring hidden under blood-encrusted hair,
is definitely dead, and has bleeded out hours ago, judging from the brown stains on her silken skirt.

Hrrd cannot tell if the body belongs, in fact, to Toska Russa, the Afridhi queen.
- However, this must have been a priestess of some rank, he is sure.

Behind the throne, Hrrd finds two more dead female humans, naked,
and their bodies painted with blood and sacred Afridhi wax like he has it seen it a few
times before...

Where those the ritual sacrifices the barbarians made to activate the Well?

djaykix wrote:

Erdath manages to throw the ring over to Sergeant Harwan,
but that robs him of the time to place his spell before the dragon attacks.

In the moment the fireball materiales over the elf's head, the dragon is already there.

With an almost sloppy strike of his paw,
Black Wing sunders Erdath across the room like a puppet.

The elf crashes through several of the curtains and finally comes to halt against the
palace's wall, in the same room where Tolleen, Audi and Gawaine are still busy keeping the entangled golems from freeing themselves...

Much to his surprise, Erdath will find himself unharmed.
As he, incrediously, and still trembling from the shock,
is slowly flown down from the ceiling where he would have broken all his bones
if thrown against, he for the first time realizes the shining forcefield around himself...

Black Flame burns hot in his hand.

havard wrote:

Hrrd will be witness of how the valiant Blackmoorian soldier desperately runs
against the zombie dragon, whose putrid flesh is still burning from Erdath's spell...

The warrior manages to cut through the heatened dragon scales,
and Harwan can hear how his sword clings against the undead beast's bones,
but he doesn't feel like he would damage the creature, by any means...

Black Wing's spiked tail, now just bones under lush skin, lashes out like a whip,
but fails to hit the soldier. - The magic ring makes him quick and dexterious,
yet Harwan will feel like a bee attacking an olyphant. Molesting to the monster,
maybe, but unable to cause any harm...

Meanwhile, over the Well, the lunatic Maiden dances her perverse dance...

The next few seconds will pass so fast noone of you, neither Dirken, Karl, or Sven,
will be able to tell what has happened afterwards.

Dirken jumps onto Ungulian, his human shape somehow shifting while he falls...

But before they can meet high in the air over the temple's entrance,
Karl rams into them like a rock shot from a catapult.

As the skeleton that remains of the former baron of Glendower growls and reaches
for Dirken's throat with its bony hand and swings its black sword against the thief,
Sven the half-elf finally overcomes his dowsy stare, and, limping on his bruised knee,
pulls his sword upwards to the bundle of bodies that fall on him...

All of you suffer from the fall, and the crush with the other bodies and the ground...
Then, Dirken will begin to yell histerically, looking downwards on his arm...

Where he his left hand was but a moment ago, there's just a bloody stump now...

As he sinks down on the stone squares of the palace's forecourt,
Dirken is shocked to see his hand poling out of the blue crystal in Ungulian's chest...

The undead, who had rolled six or seven meters away from you,
is slowly staggering back to his feet, his sword trembling in the skeletal hand...

Within Dirken's severed fist, in the middle of the blue crystal:
The magic green ball of fire and inferno, Dirken's thumb still pressed on the trigger.

[Dirken: DAM 28; Karl: DAM 5, Sven: DAM 3.]

With grim determination, he moves as fast as he can to meet the former King head on. "This ends now, you fiend!"

Erdath gets back to his feet and sends a message to Black Flame "Thank you for your protection, now lets bring this undead dragon down." Erdath begins casting another spell, this time he enlarges himself and then he charges back into battle swinging Black Flame at Black Wing's neck trying to decapitate the once great dragon.
